I’m not the strongest guy at the gym, and I probably never will be, but there’s something about pushing around heavier weights that I really enjoy. I can honestly say that since I’ve switched back to trying to get stronger I have enjoyed going to the gym more. I still do kettlebells at home, but […]

I’m not sure when the last time was that I was under 230, but it’s been at least 2 months (since I moved west). I don’t plan on climbing on the scale every week…just at the end of my mini cycles, to see if I’m moving in the general direction. Pictures might be posted as […]

I was just starting my first set of 10 deadlifts when a father and son walked into the gym. I watch them through the mirror. Of course they go straight to the bench, which is fine I suppose. They pound out a few reps at 135. Put on a couple of […]

There was no shoulder soreness/pain yesterday, so that’s a great sign. I’m going to continue to roll with the tennis ball and see if that helps. The weights moved very well yesterday so I think that’s a good thing. 185 is the most I’ve done on a close grip bench press. […]

These ended right where they should have. The 8 @ 225 was hard. Harder than I thought it should have been, but I think in the long run it will be good.
Squats
8@255/115.9 - warm-up
6@185/84.1 - warm-up
8@205/93.2
8@215/97.7
8@225/102.3
Stiff Leg Deadlifts (these were actually pretty fast!)
10@215/97.7
10@230/104.5
Leg Extensions and calf raises finished everything off.

No soreness in the shoulder today which I think is a good sign. I am however on full alert for anymore as I will probably take a step back at that point. I’ve been rolling with a tennis ball to see if that helps at all. Trying to stretch out frequently.
Bench press
8@135/61.4 - warm-up
5@165/75 - […]

This week wrapped up on a good note. All of the deadlifts went rather smoothly, which amazed me after last weeks grunt. But I suspect that was because of the layoff. I switched from front squats to zercher squats. Despite the pain in the arms, I like them better than front squats. So I’ll do […]

I’m in a bit of shock about Jesse Marunde (from IronMind, Jesse’s Forum) passing away on Wednesday. May god be with his family through this hard time.
I did make it into the gym today for a workout and went through everything. My right shoulder twinged a bit on close grip but not through everything. I […]

Things seem to be clicking again which is nice. Due to other things on my mind I wasn’t totally annoyed with all of the bench monkeys! My right shoulder was a bit off on the shoulder press, but that might have been grip related, but it’s something I’m watching VERY closely.
Bench Press
