About

StrengthNews.net is a couple of different things. It is one mans journey to be strong, look strong and be fit. It is also a place to post up information about anything strength related. This can come in many different forms, but most of the time it will be strongman related, powerlifting related and other stuff.

So who puts up StrengthNews.net? Well I’m a 29 year old man that currently resides in Iowa. I am married and we have two cats. In high school I never played football or any other sport that required weightlifting of any sort (played golf), but I was always looking at the Joe Weider magazines longing to be like one of those guys. I did take 2 weight lifting classes in high school and did pretty well at them, but I never got that strong. If I remember correctly my bench was 185 and my squat was 225. And then high school came to an end and I quit college and got a tech job. And then I bought a scale which was a major mistake because I had ballooned from 185 to a pudgy 220. So I bought a road bike and did that for a couple of years. After doing that and getting burned out I quit working out. From the bike riding I was able to get down to 175, which I was pretty proud of, but I was a bean pole. Eventually we got another gym membership and I haven’t looked back. I’ve still got a long ways to go until I’m satisfied, but I’m well on my way.

At some later point in my journey I will compete at some level. I don’t know if it is going to be in powerlifting or in strongman. I tend to like strongman more than powerlifting for the fact that there is little to no equipment used in strongman. However I appreciate what people can do in powerlifting.
